ANNUAL EVENTS
Signature annual events include free summer concert series on the Center Common and at the MacKay Library, Thursday Farmers Market on the Common, 4th of July Parade and County Fair and Winterfest.
4th of July Parade & Country Fair
This must see event has been going strong for 45 and 27 years respectively, this two-day event is the biggest and best in Town!! The Parade features floats, marching bands, music and special guests and characters. The Country Fair, stretching from daytime into evening, features live music of all kinds, dancing performances, an art show, and evening social events.

Winterfest
FUN in the Snow!! Dating back to 1993, this annual event showcases classic outdoor and indoor wintertime traditions such ice skating, snow shoeing, nature walks, an “old fashioned malt shop,” a “Chowderfest,” chili cook-off and evening social events. Winterfest takes place on the first weekend in February and wraps up the weekend on Sunday afternoon.Farmer's Market
Not your average Farmer’s Market …..from sweets to coffees and wines to crafts and jewelry to freshly prepared foods .. this Farmer’s Market has a lot more than just fresh veggies!! Enjoy special entertainment such live musical performances and child friendly activities. A summer tradition since 2006, the Chelmsford Farmer's Market on the Common is held on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 pm - 6:30 p.m. beginning the Thursday after July 4th, through the middle of October.
Summer Concert Series
Not one, but two summer concert series .... a true summertime tradition! In its 41st year, the Chelmsford Community Band, a 50-member symphonic concert band, and a 17-member jazz ensemble, can be enjoyed on the Town Common every Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. from July 4th to August 13. For more varied entertainment, enjoy “Summer Fun for the Young & the Young at Heart” at the Mackay Library every Wednesday evening begins the Wednesday after July 4th to the 2nd Wednesday in August.
Holiday Prelude
Celebrate the holiday season… this quaint and charming event is reminiscent of simpler times. Family and friends gather to appreciate each other’s company, the beauty of Town Common, heartwarming entertainment including sing along caroling, delightful music, scrumptious treats, storytimes, face painting, horse drawn hay rides and tractor rides are all to be enjoyed while waiting for Santa to arrive and for the Common to light up! The Holiday Prelude and Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place on the first Sunday in December from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
